Meet the 2016-17 Cleveland Cavaliers Coaches

Introduction

The Cleveland Cavaliers are set to defend their NBA championship in the 2016-17 season, and they will be led by a new coaching staff. Head coach Tyronn Lue has assembled a group of experienced and talented assistants who will help him guide the team to another title.

Tyronn Lue

Lue is entering his second season as head coach of the Cavaliers. He led the team to the NBA championship in 2016, becoming the first head coach in NBA history to win a title in his first season. Lue has a long history with the Cavaliers, having played for the team from 1998 to 2001. He also served as an assistant coach for the Cavaliers from 2003 to 2005.

Larry Drew

Drew is entering his fourth season as an assistant coach for the Cavaliers. He has a long history of success in the NBA, having served as head coach of the Atlanta Hawks from 2010 to 2013. Drew also has experience as an assistant coach for the Lakers, Bucks, and Pistons.

Jim Boylen

Boylen is entering his second season as an assistant coach for the Cavaliers. He has a long history of success in the NBA, having served as head coach of the Bulls from 2018 to 2020. Boylen also has experience as an assistant coach for the Rockets, Warriors, and Pistons.

Mike Longabardi

Longabardi is entering his first season as an assistant coach for the Cavaliers. He has a long history of success in the NBA, having served as an assistant coach for the Warriors from 2014 to 2020. Longabardi also has experience as an assistant coach for the Rockets and Celtics.

Phil Handy

Handy is entering his third season as an assistant coach for the Cavaliers. He has a long history of success in the NBA, having served as an assistant coach for the Lakers from 2011 to 2013. Handy also has experience as an assistant coach for the Raptors and Warriors.

Dahntay Jones

Jones is entering his first season as a player development coach for the Cavaliers. He has a long history of success in the NBA, having played for the Cavaliers from 2016 to 2018. Jones also has experience as an assistant coach for the Cavaliers from 2018 to 2020.
