Josh Allen Draft Class

NFL QB Class of 2018: Expectations vs. Reality

The Hype

The 2018 NFL Draft was supposed to feature one of the strongest quarterback classes in recent memory. With five quarterbacks selected in the first round, it was widely believed that the future of the NFL was in good hands.

The Reality

Fast forward to 2021, and the reality is a bit different. Only one quarterback from that draft class, Josh Allen, has emerged as a true star. The other four have been inconsistent at best, and some have even been benched in favor of more experienced veterans.

What Went Wrong?

There are several factors that could explain why the 2018 quarterback class has not lived up to expectations. One possibility is that the quarterbacks were overhyped. Another possibility is that they have not had the opportunity to develop properly. It is also possible that the NFL has simply changed too much in recent years, and that the skills that were once valued in quarterbacks are no longer as important.

The Future

Despite the disappointing results so far, it is still too early to write off the 2018 quarterback class. Allen is still only 25 years old, and he has shown that he has the potential to be one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL. The other four quarterbacks have not had as much success, but they are still young and have time to improve. It is possible that they will eventually develop into the players that they were projected to be.

Only time will tell what the future holds for the 2018 quarterback class. But one thing is for sure: it has been a roller coaster ride so far.
