NASCAR reinstates Cody Ware after Texas suspension

Ware was suspended indefinitely following an on-track incident at Texas Motor Speedway

NASCAR officials reinstated Cup Series driver Cody Ware on Tuesday, two days after he was suspended indefinitely following an on-track incident at Texas Motor Speedway.

Ware was involved in a multi-car accident during Sunday's NASCAR Cup Series playoff race at Texas Motor Speedway. The incident occurred on Lap 155 when Ware's car made contact with the car of Harrison Burton, sending Burton's car into the outside wall. Burton was uninjured in the incident, but his car was heavily damaged.

NASCAR officials reviewed the incident and determined that Ware was at fault for the accident. As a result, Ware was suspended indefinitely from NASCAR competition. However, NASCAR officials have since reinstated Ware after he appealed the suspension.

In a statement, NASCAR said that it "has reviewed the incident involving Cody Ware at Texas Motor Speedway and has determined that the penalty of indefinite suspension was too severe. NASCAR has reinstated Ware effective immediately."

Ware is scheduled to compete in this weekend's NASCAR Cup Series race at Homestead-Miami Speedway.
