Roberto De Zerbi admits he is not surprised by the 'incredible' quality of the Premier League but believes Brighton can challenge the established order.
The Italian, who replaced Graham Potter as Seagulls boss in September, has overseen a mixed start to life in England, with his side winning three, drawing three and losing three of their opening nine matches.
De Zerbi, speaking in an exclusive interview with BBC Sport, said: "I expected the Premier League to be so difficult. The level is incredible. Every game is so difficult.
