A man who set himself on fire outside the Manhattan court where former President Donald Trump's hush-money trial is taking place has died. Troubled conspiracy theorist Max Azzarello passed away Friday night, hours after setting himself ablaze in a park across the street from the courthouse.
Friends of Azzarello said he was a caring person who had been struggling with mental health issues. They expressed shock and sadness over his death. The New York City Police Department confirmed that the man who set himself on fire was Azzarello, 37.
Authorities said they are investigating the incident and trying to determine Azzarello's motive for setting himself on fire. The trial of Trump and the Trump Organization on charges related to hush money payments made to adult film star Stormy Daniels is ongoing.
